Nixie - Through the Craftroom Door inspiration, Prismacolor pencil and Mixed Media

This week the sponsor for the Through the Craftroom Door challenge is Oddball Art!

Artist, Poet, Fruitarian............. Lizzy Love is a perfect combination of sweet and sour that glitters up the grunge! Easily lose yourself in her artistic realm of sometimes spooky but always delightfully cute, big eyed waifs and their animal friends. Lizzy’s whimsical, one of a kind dream world is easily recognizable by her signature style of creepy yet cute, all the way from the haunting darkness to the rainbowtastic, her original creations are lovingly sprinkled with a heartbreaking sweetness. Though she is completely enthralled by her Twinkling watercolors right now, Lizzy employs many different mediums when she creates, from drawing to painting, sewing and cutting, the end result always being the same; A gothic fantasy land painted in soft pastels and neon colors; filled with big eyed beauties, creepy little cuties and quirky monsters of all shapes and sizes. Lizzy Love’s artwork includes original paintings both acrylic and watercolor, giclee fine art prints, art dolls, digital and rubber stamps of her characters , hand painted merchandise such as bags, tshirts and more..... limited only by her imagination the possibilities are endless. http://www.oddballartco.com/

For my project, I used the Cute Whimsical Big Eyed Fairy - Nixie the Pixie. I coloured her with PrismaColor pencils and added her and her mushrooms to a wall hanging with Graphic 45 paper, stenciling, Distress Oxides, chipboard embellishments, and embossing.

As usual, the theme for the Through the Craftroom Door challenge is Anything Goes! Come join us this week for the chance to win 3 digital stamps from Oddball Art!

Summer Selfie - Distress ink watercolouring

Summer colours in the middle of winter, yes please. Oh Snap! Are you ready for the summer selfies?

The Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps image is coloured with Distress ink and waterbrush with just a touch of Perfect Pearls. The stencil background is from My Favorite Things and done with more Distress ink and Clarity brush.

I decided to show how I do watercolouring with Distress to colour images, so the Putting It Together is a bit picture intense.

Time to Relax - calendar tag with watercolour paper piecing

A Chill bear just chillin' is the perfect accompaniment to a small calendar 'cause it's Time to Relax.

This tag features a Kraftin' Kimmie Stamp set with Distress ink watercolouring and paper piecing on felt.

For Everything - lace glitter

This card features a simple thank you on a shaped card with glittered lace.

The stamp set is Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps, the lace is from Joanns, the glitter is Silk Microfine from Elizabeth Craft Designs, the die is from Scrapbooking Made Simple / Sizzix, and the embossing powder is from Wow!.

Cardinal - Prismacolour and die cutting

In folklore, a cardinal is a recently departed soul that has come to visit a loved one. The day after my brother's funeral, his youngest daughter had a volleyball game for school. Several of the relatives who where there for the funeral went to the game. When they came out, a single cardinal was in the tree saying "pretty, pretty, pretty." My brother enjoyed going to see his daughter's games. Loved one may leave us, but love stays with us forever.

On the front of the card is a stamp by Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps which I coloured with Prismacolour pencils. Inside die cuts from Impression Obsession and Memory Box with a sentiment from Unity Stamps.

The Shot - Prismacolour pencils

Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps newest release includes this fun set, Stacey Slapshot. I coloured the image with Prismacolour pencils and paired her with glitter paper, embossing, and snowflake die cuts.

Saddle Up - Distress Oxide and Distress ink watercolour, calendar tag

A calendar for a friend who has a horse and will be stepping into a new job in the new year. Keep calm and Saddle Up!

The calendar features a horse from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps, a sentiment from Elizabeth Craft Designs, and a background of Distress Oxide.

Memorial for Dave - sympathy card with glittered die cut, embossed vellum, watercolouring, paper flower in an easel

This was both the hardest card I have ever made and the most rewarding in so many ways. This is the memorial card I made for my brother who died at the beginning of January from brain cancer. I made the card between the time of his death and our departure to Texas for his funeral.

The stained glass is for my brother's faith. The poppy is for his service in the military. The poem is about flight and was his favourite. Blue is for the colour of the sky and the branch of the military in which he served. The clear rhinestones are for his purity of heart.

The "putting it together" section is long and has a lot of pictures since this was a very long and involved project. Prepping the images and writing this post is, like making the card, both difficult and rewarding, part of my grieving for my much loved brother. I will miss Dave horribly. I know so many others will as well.
